Started in 1997 on a San Francisco street corner, folding balloon animals for tips. Despite initial challenges with law enforcement, Micha de Haan developed Out of Thin Air into a leading European balloon art studio.
The LED revolution
Graduated in Cultural Entrepreneurship and Branding from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. Pioneered combining balloons with LED technology, creating illuminated sculptures that transform venues. Work gained recognition in the electronic music scene through collaborations with Oliver Koletzki and festivals like Stil Vor Talent Berlin.
International stage
Currently leads a collective of balloon professionals across Europe and beyond. Notable venues and clients include Thuishaven Amsterdam, Coachella, Time Warp Germany, Booking.com, Adyen, and Salesforce. Work spans Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, and Dubai.
Our balloons are made from natural latex, harvested without harming rubber trees. We ensure all materials are removed and recycled after every event. No balloon releases, no plastic waste. We love to create, and we love our planet.
